I’ve had a few woodworking projects from desks to picture frames to exercise equipment during quarantine.
My desk was my biggest woodworking project. I wanted somewhere to put my desktop while still having enough space for books and other things I was working on. I made it as large as I could while still fitting in my room. I moved eight times while in college because of MECOP (a program where you do two six-month internships before you graduate) so it was important that the desk came apart easily.
This is the Solidworks model I made.
The supports on the bottom are to mount drawer sliders to. This gave me some extra desk space without making it any larger. The hutch and legs come off of the tabletop for moving.
The hutch and tabletop were made of 1” thick oak veneer plywood.
I finished the wood with a dark oil stain followed by a polyurethane clear coat to protect it.
This is what it looked like in my room!
I was happy with how this one turned out. It has been pretty functional. My mom who has helped me move just wishes it wasn’t so damn heavy.
Here are some picture of some of my other projects!
